Biography of the painter Sir Terry Frost RA (1915-2003)
Sir Terry Frost RA (1915-2003) was born in Leamington Spa and did not become
an artist until he was in his 30s. During his army service, and whilst a prisoner
of war, he met and had tuition from Adrian Heath.
Frost subsequently attended Camberwell
and St Ives Schools of Art.
His career included teaching at the Bath Academy and
serving as Gregory Fellow at the University of Leeds. He became the artist in residence
and Professor of Painting at the Department of Fine Art at the University of Reading.
In 1992, Frost was elected a member of the Royal Academy (RA) and was knighted in 1998.
