The Thelma Hulbert Gallery is staging an exhibition entitled Painting the Everyday at the gallery in Elmfield House in Dowell Street, Honiton to celebrate the centenary of the birth of renowned artist Thelma Hulbert (1913-1995).
The exhibition opens on Saturday, 16th March 2013 and continues until Saturday, 27th April 2013.
The exhibition focuses on Thelma Hulbert's still life paintings, which have been selected from collections across the United Kingdom, with many of the paintings rarely exhibited before.
This is a unique opportunity for visitors to see some different examples of Hulbert's work exhibited in her former home and studio at Elmfield House in Dowell Street, Honiton.
This insightful collection of paintings will be complimented by the still lifes of two leading contemporary painters from the South West: Jessica Cooper and Vanessa Bowman. Their contrasting, yet complimentary, works reveal a continued fascination with capturing the everyday. Both Jessica's and Vanessa's highly collectable works will be for sale from 10:00am on Saturday, 16th March 2013 at Elmfield House.
To coincide with the exhibition, Daniel Goddard (Head of the Picture Department) will be at the gallery on Thursday, 21st March 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm to give free valuation advice on your pictures and prints and will be receiving entries for our major picture sale on 24th April 2013, which includes 20th Century and Modern British, Newlyn and St Ives pictures.
