Animal Brooches in Fine Jewellery Auction

You may have already read my blog about the fun Cartier novelty duck which is coming up for sale on 29th April 2014 (FS22/233).
Well the duck is not the only animal being offered for auction in the Spring 2014 Fine Sale on 29th April 2014. There is a charming little brooch of a dormouse in two colour gold. The dormouse is sitting on a sprig of hazelnuts (FS22/214)

This piece of antique jewellery has black onyx eyes and is contained within a fitted case by 'Garrard'. Weighing approximately 11gms, this delightful piece of jewellery has a pre-sale estimate of £400-£600.
There is an equally intriguing three colour gold, diamond and black onyx brooch designed as a barn owl (FS22/216) .

The heart shaped face is set with brilliant cut diamonds with black onyx eyes, again in a fitted case by 'Garrard'. The estimate on this unusual piece is £1,000-£1,500.
