Alan Cotton Painting in Selected Picture Auction

Alan Cotton moved to North Devon in the 1960s and then to East Devon, where he fell in love with the area and did many paintings along the River Otter and the surrounding valley. Alan Cotton built his present house, studio and gardens, which have been developed over the years, in the village of Colaton Raleigh in East Devon. As one of Britain’s most distinguished landscape painters, Alan Cotton has been represented internationally by Messums Fine Art in Cork Street, London.

Over the years we have sold a number of Alan Cotton’s paintings and there is one in the auction on 26th February 2013 at the saleroom in Okehampton Street in Exeter depicting a crossroads on a country road. It is an oil on canvas and measures 34 x 49.5cm and the pre-sale estimate is £250-350.
