A Pair of Regency Table Globes by Dudley Adams

Bearnes Hampton and Littlewood, the Westcountry’s leading auctioneers, are to include a pair of Regency table globes (FS18/756) in their Fine Sale on the 24/25th April 2013.

A pair of Regency table globes by Dudley Adams (FS18/756).

 

The pair of 12 inch celestial and terrestrial table globes were produced in London by Dudley Adams (1762-1830) at his Fleet Street premises in 1807 and 1809.

The terrestrial table globe includes the second and third voyages of Captain James Cook and Anson’s voyage.

The celestial table globe includes all the constellations lately observed at the Cape of Good Hope and all the stars in Flamstead’s British Catalogue.

 

Both are mounted on tripod stands incorporating compasses in the undertier.

 

The sale is to be held at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood’s auction rooms in Okehampton Street, Exeter, on the 25th April 2013, the estimate is £7,000-£10,000.
