Biography of clockmaker John Ellicott (d 1733)

John Ellicott was an eminent clockmaker and the first of a family of clockmakers who worked in London from the late 17th century onwards.

John Ellicott worked at St Swithin's Alley, Royal Exchange in London having come from Bodmin in Cornwall as a child.

Ellicott was a Freeman of the Clockmakers Company from 1696 until his death in May 1733, at which time he was succeeded in his clock-making business by his son, also John Ellicott (1706-1772).
