A number of interesting items have been consigned to the sale, including a regulation pattern steel helmet for the Governor General Bodyguard of Canada, with dyed horse hair on a shaped spike. The helmet has the brass regimental crest with the motto "Nulli Secundus", gilt floral mounts and chin guard, and a leather liner. It is 40cm high and estimated to fetch between £800 and 1200.
Included among the entries for Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood Specialist Sporting and Collectors in Honiton on 4th August 2010, is the personal collection of the late David Shepherd MBE, the world famous International Test Cricket Umpire. Instantly recognisable and world renowned as one of the fairest minded umpires in first class cricket, the collection covers the latter years of his career.
Included amongst the collection is a large number of commemorative ties, medallions and presentation trophies, which were given at the start of each Test that he presided over. We are honoured and privileged to have been asked to present the collection for auction, that will no doubt attact international attention given the worldwide respect of players, officals and fans of the sport for David throughout his career.
