Part of the Harold Bowden Collection of Cornish Books being offered for sale 15th March 2017 in the Antiquarian Book Auction includes a selection of volumes by William Borlase.
Titles include William Borlases Natural History of Cornwall with a folding map, 28 copper engraved plates and bound in contemporary full speckled calf, neatly re-backed. Printed for the author in 1758 in Oxford, this volumes is inviting bids of £450 - £650

Also being offered is William Borlases Antiquities - Historical and Monumental with a large folding map of the County, single page map and 25 copper engraved plates. This handsome folio in contemporary full speckled calf and nicely re-backed is the second [best] edition dated 1769 and carries a pre-sale estimate of £300 - £450

A copy of William Borlases Observations on the Ancient and present State of the Islands of Scilly is also expected to create interest. With 5 engraved plates including a folding map and large folding panoramic plate, this volume dated 1756 has an estimate of £250 - £350
