Lenkiewicz Legacy Sale

The Painter with Mary in Newspaper Magi-Fool's Hats by Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002), also known as 'Paper Crowns', carries a pre-sale estimate of between £30,000 and £50,000.

Our association with Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002), The Lenkiewicz Foundation, and now The Lenkiewicz Legacy Sale, goes back to 2002 when we were asked by the Executor of the Lenkiewicz Estate to produce an inventory of paintings and artefacts, and in addition provide valuation and dispersal advice so that the estate could be administered.

The Bishop Started (SF15/155) by Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002), sold for £100,000 at the Lenkiewicz 2008 Studio Sale at Westpoint near Exeter in 2008.

In 2003, in association with Sothebys, we conducted the first of three incredible Studio Sales, selling every one of the 155 pictures in the catalogue, and this sale was followed by two even larger Studio Sales under our own banner at Westpoint in Exeter in 2004 (see Lenkiewicz - The Studio Sale) and 2008 (see Lenkiewicz 2008). It was here that records were set, led by The Temptation of St Anthony (SF15/397) which sold for £170,000 and the superb portrait of The Bishop Startled (SF15/155) which sold for £100,000.

The Temptation of St Anthony (SF15/397) by Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002) set a record for work by Lenkiewicz, realising £170,000 in April 2008.

We are now delighted to be supporting The Lenkiewicz Foundation with an auction sale to help secure their long term objective of a Lenkiewicz Museum on the Barbican in Plymouth. We have worked closely with White Lane Press to produce a catalogue of paintings, watercolours, drawings, limited edition prints, exhibition posters and artefacts for a sale on Saturday 28th March 2015.

Diogenes and Belle at Prayer (estimate £20,000-£30,000) will be one of the paintings by Robert Lenkiewicz (1941-2002) to be sold at auction in Exeter in The Lenkiewicz Legacy Sale on Saturday, 28th March 2015.

This sale, which includes paintings belonging to The Lenkiewicz Foundation and the collection of Graham Carey, a past trustee and patron, is a new and exciting opportunity to acquire works by Lenkiewicz in the 21st century. The sale will go on view at our Westcountry Saleroom Complex in Okehampton Street in Exeter on Thursday, 26th March 2015 and catalogues for the sale will be available from the 6th March 2015.
