I am delighted to announce that Bearne's and Hampton & Littlewood formally merged on Friday, 2nd January 2009 to form the largest auction house and valuation business in the West Country. The new firm will be known as Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood.

The merger brings together a formidable team of fine art experts and valuers, which will enable us to compete directly with the London auction houses, while remaining firmly based in the South West of England.

The new firm will cover Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset.

Christopher Hampton becomes the Managing Director of Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood. We are joined on the new board by the directors from the merging companies; namely: Daniel Goddard, Rachel Littlewood and Nic Saintey.

Both Bearne's and Hampton & Littlewood bring their own distinctive expertise to the new firm, which will employee 18 full-time staff, as well as a range of specialist consultants and part-time valuers.

Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood will continue to operate from both our Okehampton Street and Alphinbrook Road salerooms. We will be offering weekly fine art auctions, alternating between the two sites. We will also be holding specialist sales at both sites periodically.
