Biography

Having completed her MA in History of Art at the Courtauld Institute, London, Joan Lowther started work as a porter at Sotheby's. She went on to work as an administrator at Christie's in the Modern Design department.

Whilst concurrently studying for the Kingston Art Market Appraisal MA and working at Corfield Morris Art and Antique Advisors, she became interested in jewellery valuation.

On finishing her course at Kingston, she decided to pursue this interest further by undertaking further studies at Gem-A in London and gained her gemmology and diamond diplomas there.

Joan has spent the last decade in Sweden, last working there at the world's oldest auction house, Stockholms Auktionsverk as a gemmologist and valuer.

Most recently, she has just completed an MBA at Sup de Luxe, Paris.
