The first of two special fine furniture sales to disperse the Nye Furniture Collection, which Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood have been instructed to sell at auction.

This auction has 137 fine art lots.

Sale Notes

The late Paul Nye certainly had an eye for furniture and wooden effects that ranged from the 'traditional country' such as a 19th century oak dresser (SF18/1002), useful Victorian furnishing pieces, including a breakfront bookcase (SF18/1003), through to some very striking and stylish items such as a pair of pollard oak card tables in the manner of George Bullock (SF18/1005) (estimated at £6,000-£8,000) and a Regency serving table (SF18/1045).

Paul Nye certainly had a soft spot for Arts and Crafts, which is well catered for with a Victorian Gothic oak, walnut and ebonised sideboard (SF18/1036) and a carved walnut desk (SF18/1061a) - both likely to prove popular amongst bidders.

However, it is the quirky items that he collected that are likely to form the talking point of the sale and among the more eclectic items on offer there is a set of pharmacy cabinets (SF18/1056), an Art Deco oak, coromandel and chrome hall stand (SF18/1067) and  a printed wood advertising figure in the form of a bikini clad girl (SF18/1131).

The 137 lots in this sale form part of Paul Nye's extensive collection. We will be offering the second part on 25th October 2013 (SF19).
