Sale Notes
The next Sporting & Collectors Auction of the 15th/16th November 2017 has over 1,200 lots on offer with an extensive range of items from the 19th century to galaxies far, far away.
The first day begins with the more conventional sporting and militaria sections, including Taxidermy with examples by both Rowland Ward (SC25/61A) and Van Ingen & Van Ingen.
There are a number of single owner collections throughout the sale and the first to be offered is a collection of vintage air rifles and pistols. Among them is perhaps one of the most sought after rifles by collectors - a Webley & Scott .177 Webley Service Air Rifle MkII (SC25/135). Produced and used as a military trainer, it was manufactured to a high standard and has stood the test of time.
The first day continues with an excellent selection of medals and militaria before moving on to a selection of Formula One memorabilia including pieces from Ayrton Senna (SC25/465) and Nigel Mansell (SC25/470).
At the end of day one, we have a selection of wines and spirits including Red Bordeaux, Burgundy, Ports and Madeiras, which will also attract seasonal bidders.
Day Two begins with the stamp section, which has several notable collections including a collection of Chinese Peoples Republic stamps (SC25/611) and an extensive mint collection of mainly KGVI to QEII British Empire (SC25/626).
Among the textiles on the second day of the auction are pieces by Dior (SC25/715), Roberto Cavalli (SC25/720A) and Biba (SC25/743) that will no doubt attract international attention from buyers of couture.
Continuing with a selection of dolls, diecast and a single owner collection of railway items, the second day has a more eclectic feel with both a single owner of original British film posters and a collection of Victorian and later propelling pencils and pens.
With something for everyone, the sale will once again bring bidders far and wide to have a closer look at the pieces on offer.
