Lot Description
A carved and giltwood and velvet damask upholstered canapé in Louis XV / XVI Transitional style, by Alavoine of Paris, circa 1900, the bowed back and sides with laurel wreath cresting and scrolling acanthus and bead toprail, to scrolled acanthus terminals, with conforming supports, beaded rails and tapering stop-fluted legs; a metal plaque to the underside inscribed ALAVOINE, 9 RUE CAUMARTIN, PARIS; 84cm high, 136cm wide, and a pair of similar but associated bergère armchairs; 98cm high, 70cm wide.
