Lot Description

An 18 carat gold emerald and diamond ring, the central rectangular cut emerald stated to weigh 3.21 carats, claw set within a surround of brilliant cut diamonds and pear cut diamonds, approximately 2.40 carats total, stamped 750 with full London hallmarks for 1998, maker's mark MS for Micheal Spiers, ring size N 1/2.

Notes

Offered for sale with a Gem & Pearl Laboratory Emerald Report, No 20744, dated 12 November 2021, stating;- Result Natural emerald Comments Evidence of negligible clarity enhancement Origin Opinion Zambia.

Important Notes

Prospective buyers of coloured gemstones should be aware that some stones might have been treated to enhance their colour or clarity. Sapphires and rubies are commonly heat-treated and emeralds are commonly oiled. In the case of heat treatment, this is permanent but can affect the durability of the stones. In the case of oiling, this may need to be redone after a period of years. The international jewellery trade has generally accepted these methods. It is not possible for Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood to obtain gemmological reports on stones offered for sale and so prospective buyers should assume all gemstones have been enhanced by some method.
