Of Royal Victorian Interest An early Victorian rosewood and carved giltwood square pianoforte, bearing an ivory plaque 'Patent John Broadwood & Sons, Manufacturers to her Majesty, Great Pulteney Street, Golden Square, London, the square case with a gilt beaded apron, on gilt acanthus carved and polygonal tapered legs, terminating in castors, 186cm (6ft 1in) long, the interior with written paper label 'This piano in the years 1845 & 46 was in possession of the Late Prince Consort and was the same on which he played and composed in his private apartments. Buckingham Palace Obit Decr 14 1861 and is lamented by the Queen and whole nation'. A paper label states 'Tuner WH. Pyemont, 15 & 16 King Street, Great Yarmouth' Also stencilled Reid No 94 Mrs Thackeray, Horstead Rectory, purchased 1847 and stencilled 'From John Reid Piano Forte and Music Saloon, 55 Baker Street, Portman Square, London.
