Alfred Wallis [1855-1942] - Three-masted schooner anchored off a lighthouse,- oil and pencil drawing on card 20.5 x 22.5cm.


Between 1957 and 1973 Kettle's Yard in Cambridge was the home of Jim [1895-1990] and Helen Ede. in the 1920s and 30s Jim had been a curator at the Tate Gallery in London. Here he formed friendships with artists and other like-minded people and over the years gathered a collection that included paintings by Ben and Winifred Nicholson, Alfred Wallis, Christopher Wood, David Jones and Joan Miró, and sculptures by Henri Gaudier-Brzeska, Constantin Brancusi, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth.


Directly From Alfred Wallis To Jim Ede Of Kettle's Yard. Gifted By Ede To His Nephew As A Wedding Present, Thence By Family Descent.
