Auction Lot FS42/1033

A fine Louis XVI style mahogany and gilt metal mounted vitrine in the manner of Paul Sormani, with an onyx marble and galleried top with tassel hung drapery border, having a foliate scroll frieze flanked by panels of ribbon tied pendant fruit, the interior with mirrored back, enclosed by bevelled glazed sides and a glazed panel door, flanked by fluted columns with foliate capitals, the paterae and foliate scroll frieze below with a panel of cherubs at play, having a spring loaded drawer on fluted square tapered legs, headed with female caryatid figures, united by undulating flattened stretchers, terminating in tapered foliate sabots and brass bun feet, the lock plate stamped Cadwallader Maker, 83 Clevland St London, 69cm (2ft 3in) wide, 141cm (4ft 7/12in) high.

Sale SC22; Lot: 0201: A 17th century Turkish Kilij, the broad reinforced blade with single curved edge and double edged point, inset with gold koftgari and tughra, two further rectangular calligraphic panels surrounding a star, the downward swept hilt and handle inset with coral and turquoise, in a matching scabbard also inset five oval turquoise and gilt inscriptions, the reverse with floral geometric decoration, blade length 71cm.
