An early 19th Century Dutch satinwood, rosewood crossbanded and inlaid dwarf side cabinet, bordered with boxwood lines, the top with cut corners having a narrow lacquered panel frieze and apron base enclosed by a quarter veneered panel door with tulipwood crossbanded border, centred by a ribbon tied roundel decorated in gilt in Shibyama style on an ebonised ground with an urn of flowers and foliage, the ebonised canted angles with applied gilt metal rosette and pendant foliate ornament, on square tapered legs, terminating in brass bun feet, 59cm (1ft 1 1/4in) wide, 90cm (2ft 11 1/2in) high.

Lot Description

An early 19th Century Dutch satinwood, rosewood crossbanded and inlaid dwarf side cabinet, bordered with boxwood lines, the top with cut corners having a narrow lacquered panel frieze and apron base enclosed by a quarter veneered panel door with tulipwood crossbanded border, centred by a ribbon tied roundel decorated in gilt in Shibyama style on an ebonised ground with an urn of flowers and foliage, the ebonised canted angles with applied gilt metal rosette and pendant foliate ornament, on square tapered legs, terminating in brass bun feet, 59cm (1ft 1 1/4in) wide, 90cm (2ft 11 1/2in) high.
