Lot Description

A Chinese bronze tripod censer of squat circular form, with swept handles, bears four character mark within a dragon border, 16.5cm diameter; a similar censer, bears sixteen character mark to the base, 13.5cm diameter; and small censer, bears six character mark to the base, 7.5cm diameter.

Sale FS37; Lot: 1057: A large Victorian chiming bracket clock the eight-day duration, triple-fusee movement with anchor escapement, striking the hours on a gong and the quarters on a set of nine-bells, with engraved decoration to the backplate, the break-arch brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring with black Roman numerals and decorative blued steel hands, three further silvered subsidiary dials within the arch for 'Chime'Silent', 'Regulation' and 'Westminster Chime/Chiming on Eight Bells', with a matted centre and cast-brass c-scroll spandrels to the four corners and arch, the ebonised case having a cast-brass gilded locking top opening to reveal the movement, surmounted by a brass carrying handle, with applied raised classical decorative friezes to either side, below and above the dial, with matching panels to each case side below a cast-brass handle, standing on matching bracket feet, signed under the chapter ring JC Jennens, London, height 66cm handle up, 62cm handle down. * Biography Possibly John Creed Jennens (& Son) working in London circa 1863 until at least 1875.
