Sale Notes
As we move away from the blistering hot summer days, the new season brings with it the Autumn Fine Art Sale on 9th/10th October 2018, with over 1,000 lots of silver, jewellery, paintings, ceramics, works of art, clocks, furniture and rugs being sold over the two days.
Day One includes silver, jewellery and paintings, where we are delighted to be selling the Robin Hanbury -Tenison Newlyn School Collection (Lots 351 – 408 inclusive). Within the collection, there is a good selection of paintings by Thomas Cooper Gotch (1854 – 1931) including ‘Patricia holding an Iris, 1917’ (FS40/351), which carries a guide price of £6,000-£8000.
Day Two of the auction includes ceramics, works of art and furniture. Price wise, the highest pre-sale estimate of the day belongs to a fine set of eight George III carved mahogany dining chairs in the manner of Robert Manwaring (FS40/931) from Kingsnympton Park, Devon which are estimated at £30,000-£50,000, but there are many other lots with more affordable price tags including the contents of a West Country House.
