Lot Description

A rare Vauxhall blue and white vase of ogee form with foliate scrolled handles, painted with panels depicting an extensive oriental lake landscape, the reverse with an attendant holding a parasol above two Chinese figures with a pagoda to one side, the panels reserved on a solid blue floral ground, on circular pedestal foot, circa 1755-58, 13.5cm high [minor chip to rim].

Notes

The shape is copied from the Vincennes 'Vase à Oreilles' designed by Jean-Claude Duplessis in the 1750s.
