By John Watson, 8 New Oxford St WC - A late 19th Century satinwood and inlaid Carlton House writing desk, bordered with ebony and boxwood lines, the curved superstructure with a brass baluster gallery rail, fitted with six small drawers, flanked by a pair of compartments with brass posting apertures, each enclosed by a curved door, the curved fronts each fitted with a small drawer and with tooled crimson leather inset writing surface, the frieze containing three short drawers, flanked by carved paterae, on turned and fluted tapered legs, terminating in brass sabots, 157cm (5ft 2in) wide, the centre frieze drawer stamped John Watson, 8 New Oxford St, W C.

Sale FS14; Lot: 0887: A late 19th century satinwood, burr maple and inlaid display cabinet, of shaped front outline, crossbanded in tulipwood, bordered with lines, the stepped breakfront upper part with a moulded cornice, fitted with adjustable shelves and enclosed by two pairs of astragal glazed panel doors, the lower part fitted with a frieze drawer with sliding cover and enclosed by a pair of pleated silver panel and astragal glazed doors, flanked by serpentine crossbanded and foliate decorated sides, on bracket feet, 105cm (3ft 5 1/4in) wide, 188cm (6ft 2in) high.
