Lewis Wickes Hine [1874-1940, Winsconsin, USA] - George Cross's home vintage gelatin-silver print - 9 x 11.5cm.

Notes

This and five other gelatin-silver contact prints come from the glass negatives of the Survey of Child Labour Conditions in America, undertaken by Hine for the National Child Labor Committee between 1908 and 1917. The title in the Library of Congress Collection is given as 'George Cross's home and some of the family. Sanitation below the average. Arkwright, Settlement, Spartanberg, South Carolina.'.

Provenance

Their Provenance Is From Lunn Gallery Graphics International Ltd. See Lunn Gallery Catalogue 5, Washington 1976, Note To Item 115. These Prints Were Amongst The Duplicates Acquired By The Lunn Gallery From The George Eastman House Collection.
