A 17th Century lead water cistern, of D shaped outline with a curved back, the frieze decorated with a continuous band of leaves and berries, having square panels cast with stylised flowering stems within moulded square surrounds, the central arcaded panel with date 1653 and initials W over T S, 132cm (4ft 4in) long, 102cm (3ft 4in) high.

Lot Description

A 17th Century lead water cistern, of D shaped outline with a curved back, the frieze decorated with a continuous band of leaves and berries, having square panels cast with stylised flowering stems within moulded square surrounds, the central arcaded panel with date 1653 and initials W over T S, 132cm (4ft 4in) long, 102cm (3ft 4in) high.

Notes

The initials are those of Thomas and Sarah Wren.
