Sale FS41; Lot: 0889: Samuel Marti, a French clock garniture the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours with an outside countwheel, the backplate stamped with the trademark for the maker S Marti, Paris, the round porcelain dial having a painted scene to the centre depicting a house beside a river with blue edging to the outer aspect and black Roman numerals, with decorative gilt-brass hands, the shaped gilt-metal case having applied floral moulding to the front, top and sides, with a porcelain panel set below the dial painted with a scene depicting a young couple in a field, the top of the case surmounted by a gilt-metal and porcelain urn painted with floral decoration, with a matching pair of gilt-metal and porcelain side pieces, height 34.5cm clock, 34.5cm side pieces. * Biography For details of Samuel Marti see lot No 886.
