Lot Description

A rare set of six early 18th Century walnut open armchairs, the cartouche shaped backs with arcaded top rails with paper scroll crestings, having triple pierced vertical splats, shaped scroll arm supports and escutcheon shaped solid legs, terminating in pad feet.

Provenance

The 8th Earl Of Buckinghamshire [1906-1963] And Thence By Family Descent. Included In The Contents Sale At Hampden House, Great Hampden, Buckinghamshire [17th-22nd April 1939] As Lot 1221 'A Set Of 6 Open Armchairs, English Early 18th Century, Of Walnut Wood.
