A Massive Staffordshire Pearlware Jar (FS23/391) offered in our Two Day Fine Art Sale starting on 8th July 2014 at our salerooms in Exeter, Devon.
Lot Description
A massive Staffordshire pearlware jar of baluster form with cylindrical neck and flared base, transfer printed in blue with 'The Beemaster' pattern, early 19th century, 55cm high [some damage].
Notes
The scene is based on a watercolour by George Robertson [1742-88] titled 'Swarm of Bees, Autumn', the original is now in the Cecil Higgins Art Gallery, Bedford.
