Sale Notes
The forthcoming Quarterly Fine Sale at the newly revamped salerooms at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood has almost 1,000 lots and a particularly punchy selection of paintings.
There is the traditional, but busy view of Positano on All Saints Days by Franz Unterberger, estimated at between £25,000 and £35,000. However, if your tastes are a little more contemporary then there is the charming Riders on the Shore, by Heywood Hardy (estimated at £12,000-£18,000) - someone more often known for his countryside and hunting scenes.
A little more contemporary in her rendering of paint, and someone who dabbled in abstraction, was Winifred Nicholson. Her 1972 still life of Garden Flowers is on offer at £20,000-£30,000.
However, it is not just the Paintings section that can lay claim to the 'big ticket' items. There is a rare pair of Chinese reverse painted Convex Mirrors in the furniture section, which ought to achieve in excess of £8,000-£12,000; a stunning 3.75 cts, brilliant cut single stone diamond ring for £8,000-£10,000; and a walnut-cased longcase clock, signed Joseph Knibb at £16,000-£18,000.
