A fine 19th Century Indian ivory chess set (FS14/789) is just one of the exciting lots on offer in the forthcoming Fine Art Sale. This beautifully executed set has one side left natural and the other side left natural with stained green bases. The pawns are to one side musketed infantrymen and the other side are sword wielding sepoys. The king measures 15cm and the pawn 9cm. This exquisite set is expected to fetch between £1,500-£2,000.
Amongst the Chinese porcelain within the ceramics section of the forthcoming fine sale, there is a rare Chinese porcelain wine ewer (FS14/541). Being of flattened hexagonal 'Persian' form with single neck ring, slender handle and spout with domed cover and metal mounts painted in blue with peony and verso chrysanthemum blooms, this unusual Kangxi piece is expected to fetch between £500-£800.
There are some stunning pieces of jewellery on offer, including a pair of diamond three-stone drop earrings (FS14/419), which carry a pre-sale estimate of £4,000-£5,000 and an 18ct white gold and diamond mounted three stone ring (FS14/402), which is expected to fetch between £4,000-£6,000.
Other highlights of the sale include a Louis XV brass mounted kingwood coffer fort (FS14/862), which has an estimate of £1,500-£2,000 and a Chinese jade carving of a pair of squirrels chasing each others tail (FS14/700), which is inviting bids between £1,000-£1,500.
