Sale FS39; Lot: 0783: A William and Mary walnut veneer and feather banded bureau cabinet, in three sections, the upper part with a moulded cornice, fitted with shelves, enclosed by a pair of bevelled mirror panel doors, the waisted lower part with central section having a crossbanded sloping hinged fall fitted with a ledge, enclosing a fitted interior with small drawers and pigeon holes with slides, having triple divided wells with sliding covers, containing two short and two long drawers to the section below, with brass ring handles, the sides each applied with three brass carrying handles, on later bun-shaped feet, 100.5cm (3ft 3 1/2in) wide, 190.5cm (6ft 3in) high.

Sale FS39; Lot: 0727: Holingue Frères, a French Gorge carriage clock the eight-day duration movement having a silvered platform lever escapement and striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, with push button repeat of the last hour at will, the backplate stamped with the serial number 5585 with the frontplate stamped with the initials HL for the maker Holingue frères, the white enamel dial having black Roman numerals, a subsidiary alarm dial, blued steel moon hands and signed for the retailer G Taylor & Son, Paris, the gorge case with typical five-bail handle, height 17.5cm (handle up) 14.5cm (handle down). * Biography Jean-Francois and the younger Louis Holingue were the sons of the carriage clock maker Jean Baptiste and worked in the clockmaking town of Saint-Nicolas-d'Aliermont, near to Dieppe, producing the rough movements for a number of well-known makers including Paul Garnier and Bolviller; with Louis-Albert Holingue, the son and likely successor of Louis, married and settled in Paris with seemingly little interest in returning to the town, the brothers sold their workshops and equipment to Alfred Drocourt in 1875, having supplied Drocourt for a number of years with movements for his own clocks finished in Paris.

Sale FS37; Lot: 1191: By Shapland and Petter, Barnstaple - An Edwardian satin walnut three piece bedroom suite, with applied oxidised metal handles and hinges comprising a combination wardrobe with a moulded cornice, open shelves and an arrangement of four drawers and with two hanging cupboards, enclosed by a leaded glazed and carved panel door and a bevelled mirror panel door, on bracket feet, 202cm (6ft 7 1/2in) wide, a kneehole dressing table with swing frame bevelled mirror and four short and single long drawer, 135cm (4ft 5in) wide and a washstand with rouge variegated marble top and two short drawers and two enclosed cupboards, 122cm (4ft) wide.
