Contained in a shelf-filled auction at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood, Exeter on Tuesday 12th of February commencing at 10.00am, are an exciting assortment of Lots. The first is a pewter two-handled rose bowl designed by Archibald Knox for Liberty & Co. dating from the Arts and Craft movement the bowl is inscribed with lines from Alfred Lord Tennyson’s poem ‘Come into the Garden Maud’, the estimate is £150–£200* and is a classic of its type.(EX223/368) Time flies as January has now passed and February is upon us, what better than a bedside clock with a difference? There is a late 19th century French brass carriage timepiece with enamel Roman dial contained in its leather bound carrying case. Originally used as a traveller’s timepiece in the days of horse drawn coaches and train travel, it is expected to fetch in the region of £40-£60*(EX223/326) In the silver section there is a fine set of four Edward VII silver posy vases, of tapering trumpet-shaped outline. The maker was Fenton Brothers and the vases were assayed in Sheffield in 1907, filled with posies they would certainly bring some colour to the dining table. The estimate is £120-£150* they are expected to reach the top end of the estimate. (EX223/162) For people starting to collect Moorcroft pottery there is a shallow dish with fruit decoration normally Moorcroft is expensive but this has a rim chip to the underside and is expected to realise around £40, ideal if you are starting out collecting Moorcroft.
