Sale Notes
Amongst the varied and interesting items included in Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood’s Antiques & Interiors auction on Tuesday, 29th March 2022, there is a large German porcelain parrot, not a Norwegian Blue but an impressive bird none the less. Perched on a floral decorated tree stump the bird stands over 46cm. high. The estimate for this magnificent bird is £80-£120*.
Not porcelain, but pottery this time, and closer to home is a small group of CH Brannam, which includes two vases, a ewer, bowl and mug, all with traditional Barum colours of blues and browns. Most inscribed to the base and dated from the turn of the last century. The collection is expected to realise in the region of £80-£120*.
For the silver collectors, there is a wonderful set of teaspoons made for the Coronation of George VI in 1937. Each spoon bears a different hallmark from each of the assay offices for 1937 including London, Birmingham, Sheffield, Chester, Glasgow and Edinburgh. They are still contained in their original case and should realise between £30-£50*.
There is an opportunity to own a brilliant late Victorian games compendium contained in a fitted box. It includes chess and draught pieces, cribbage board, solitaire board, race horse game with metal runners and riders, playing cards etc. The compendium is expected to fetch between £80-£100*.
Finally, or those who need an alarm clock to wake them in the morning, there is a handsome late Victorian French carriage timepiece. It is contained in a traditional corniche case with roman dial and fitted with a subsidiary dial for the alarm. A figure around £120* will secure this elegant alarm timepiece.
