Sale Notes

Is it too early for a bit of Christmas shopping? While there is something traditional and exciting about leaving it to the last minute, if you are of a more organised and forward planning disposition then please do come and have a look at the next auction sale, which is full of great Christmas presents and includes another big selection of antique and modern jewellery and silver.

There is plenty to choose from in the jewellery, including a graduated five stone diamond ring with a tempting estimate of £150-£250 (EX113/123) or to add a bit of colour, a single stone emerald ring has an estimate of £100-£200 (EX113/125). For a sweet item of collectors jewellery look no further that the Art Nouveau enamel pendant which is stamped 'S & E'. This pendant is included in a lot with some pearls and one other small pendant. The estimate is £50-£80 and it really would make an imaginative Christmas present and the Art Nouveau style is never far out of fashion.

For the gentlemen, there is a retro and stylish Omega wristwatch which is estimated at £50-£80 (EX113/35) and a handsome solid silver salver made in Sheffield in 1940 and weighing 16oz. It stands on four ball and claw feet and is plain with no inscription - which is a good thing - and is estimated at £150-£200 (EX113/216). Among the more decorative silver is a silver and tortoiseshell dressing table box inset with swag and bow decoration, the estimate is just £50-£70 (EX113/196).

Away from the Silver and Jewellery, there is still plenty to choose from for the modern interior. A group of three Cornish Troika Pottery vases catch the eye with their influence of Cornish tin mines and engineering. The estimates range from £80-£250 and to continue the Cornish theme there are two small copper trays in the Newlyn style, each decorated with stylised fish, these are estimated at £30-£50.
