Regular Antiques and Collectables Auction of ceramics, glass, oriental, works of art, books, collectables, pictures and furniture held at our Exeter salerooms.

This auction has 518 fine art lots.

Sale Notes

This sale has a useful collection of Maling Ware, made in Tyneside between 1792 and 1963, ranging from practical items such as plain Cetem Ware butter dishes to the more decorative and brightly coloured vases and bowls in patterns such as Storm (EX69/103), Rosina, Godetia and Blossom Time (EX69/101). Although there are in excess of 80 pieces, these have been separated into ten lots.

For those with time on their hands, there are also several clocks ranging from a French gilt metal and porcelain mounted mantel clock with acanthus moulded candlesticks, £300-£500 (EX69/376); a French red tortioshell and brass boulle work clock, £200-£300 (EX69/394); and an Edwardian inlaid rosewood mantel clock, £150-£200 (EX68/395).

There is also a carved ivory cane handle in the form of a Hare's head - a striking looking piece of work, though it couldn't have been too comfortable in the hand. (EX69/460).

Finally, if you like your furniture of a manageable size then there is, for the gamblers amongst you, an Edwardian inlaid rosewood 'envelope' card table, £150-200  (EX69/477); or something a little more generously proportioned in the form of an oak extending dining table on bulbous legs that fully extended is nearly 10 feet long and ought to accommodate the whole family, £500-700 (EX69/490).
