Terry Frost [1915-2003] - May June,- inscribed as titled, signed and dated '68 on the reverse, further signed on the stretcher, oil on canvas, 123 x 92cm, accompanied by a letter from Terry Frost authenticating the painting and a signed Polaroid photograph. * Sir Terry Frost, RA [1915-2003] was born in Leamington Spa and left school at 14 to work in a bicycle shop. During army service he met and was tutored by Adrian Heath and subsequently attended Camberwell School of Art where a major influence was Victor Pasmore. in 1950 he moved, with his wife Kathleen, to Quay St in St Ives and worked as assistant to Barbara Hepworth. His career included teaching at the Bath Academy and serving as Gregory Fellow at the University of Leeds and becoming resident Professor of Painting at the Department of Fine Art at the University of Reading in 1992 he was elected R A., and was knighted in 1998.

Lot Description
