Sale FS41; Lot: 0910: A Pizzala, Hatton Garden, a satinwood wheel barometer the eight-inch round silvered dial with typical barometer markings and having a blued-steel hand and brass pointer, with a Georgian-style cast brass bezel, the satinwood case with a thermometer set within the trunk and a silvered dialled level to the base engraved with the maker's name A Pizzala, 7 Charles Street, Hatton Garden, having an architectural pediment top with brass finial, height 97cm (inc. finial) * Biography There are a number of makers named A Pizzala working in Hatton Garden, London with the first recorded at 7 Charles Street from 1840 until 1846 having taken over the business from FA Pizzala. * Note. Sale MA15; Lot: 0265: A fragment of Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson's funeral flag from the battle ensign of HMS Victory, taken by Rowden Holdsworth, attached to a signed and witnessed letter of provenance, the 5cm by 3cm fragment held by two steel pins to a folded sheet with Nelson crest attached upper left corner inscribed; . Rowden Holsworth, son of Philip Holsworth, Marshall of the City of London Maketh oath and most solemnly faith, that on the ninth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and six, be the department attendee the funeral of Admiral Lord Viscount Nelson to Saint Pauls Cathedral as a young man belonging to the Lord Mayor's Household; and that the above morceau is a part of the identical flag of HMS Victory, borne in the procession by part of the crew, with which the Hero fought, conquered and died, in the ever-memorable engagement with the Combined Fleets of France and Spain, off Cape Trafalgar on the twenty first day of October, one thousand eight hundred and five. Given at the Mansion House, London 13th June, 1812. before me-Rowden Holdsworth - CS Hunter Mayor' watermark date to paper '1810' 32 x 20cm overall size.
