Sale Notes

Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's Book Sale on the 11th March 2015 has a broad selection of interesting material for collectors in many areas: Children's works include a good selection of early Enid Blyton books including many firsts and many complete with dustwrappers. The Famous Five series is well-represented (BK13/30). Other children's authors are AA Milne ((BK12/45) and Beatrix Potter (BK13/47). Wider English literature is covered, including editions of Jane Austen (BK13/26), Charles Dickens (BK13/78), with modern firsts including Len Deighton (BK13/75) and Alfred Noyes (BK13/97).

There are several interesting scrap books and albums in this sale including an example containing watercolours of traditional Arabian and Maltese costumes (BK13/303).

One of the most interesting aspects of this sale is the collection of books and prints relating to the Battle of Waterloo. Two hundred years has now passed since this particular conflict and interest in it is as strong as ever. We are offering a full set of Wellington's Dispatches (BK13/132) as well as several evocative engravings of the battle and the great leaders involved (BK13/377).
