The Fine Art Sale has come around quickly this quarter, having had various other specialist sales in the last few months, including the world record breaking price of £305,000 for the Hans Coper Vase in the 20th Century & Contemporary Sale.

The April 2018 Fine Art Sale offers some wonderful pieces, with over 1,000 lots included on 10th and 11th April 2018.

Day One commences with the Silver section, where a pair of Victorian owl pepperettes (FS38/109) are estimated at £500-£700 and a George III silver butter dish, cover and stand (FS38/180) is being offered at £700-£900.

Jewellery is next up, where there is a good selection of rings, necklaces, earrings, wristwatches, bangles and brooches. Amongst the favourites is a diamond solitaire ring, the stone estimated to weight 2.4ct (FS38/295) that is inviting bids of £5,000-£6,000 and seasonally topical a late 19th Century/early 20th Century hatched chick bar brooch (FS38/241), which is estimated at £800-£1,000.

The last section of Day One of the Fine Art Auction includes the paintings, which include a portrait of Charles I after Sir Anthony Van Dyck (FS38/352) (Late 19th Century), which is expected to fetch £2,000-£3,000 and an oil on canvas by Albert Goodwin (1845-1932) titled Sunset (FS38/439) carries a pre-sale estimate of £1,500-£2,500.

Day Two on 11th April 2018 commences with the ceramics and glass. Highlights include a pair of Royal Worcester vases by Charles Baldwyn (FS38/621) with an estimate of £800-£1,200 and a Meissen Cup and Saucer in the manner of Herrold (FS38/629), which also carries a pre-sale estimate of £800-£1,200.

The works of art section is again a large section within the sale and includes a pair of mid 19th Century Venetian carved giltwood and ebonised blackamoor stools (FS38/660) estimated at £3,000-£4,000 and a three piece clock garniture by Vincenti of Paris (FS38/860) with an estimate of £800-£1,200.

The final section of the auction is furniture, with over 150 lots being offered. Highlights include a Louis XV kingwood, inlaid and gilt metal mounted bombe commode (FS38/989), which is expected to fetch £2,000-£3,000 and a set of six late 19th Century mahogany elbow chairs in the Regency taste (FS38/940), which carries a pre-sale estimate of £1,500-£2,000.
