The antiques and interiors sale at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood on Tuesday, 16th February 2016 looks to be a bumper one. It has been extended to include a second day on Wednesday, 17th February 2016 to accommodate the large number of lots already included.

Day one will have jewellery, silver, and ceramics, content with the second day hosting pictures, works of art and furniture.

Amongst the lots are some interesting advertising items which include a pottery table box advertising Balkan Sobranie Cigarettes, a poster showing a workman lifting a girder with one hand above the caption Guinness is good for you and also some barely politically correct posters for New York and London music publishers: The Darktown Strutters Ball. Drinking, Smoking and Dancing a perfect package for some.

The sale literally has entries from the four corners of the globe with faience from France, majolica from Italy and porcelain from Germany and China and Schuco novelty windup toys also from Germany and Austrian cold painted bronzes.

However, homespun tastes are also catered for with a good offering of Torquay and Barnstaple pottery and those with more contemporary taste can chose from the studio pottery from local boys David Leach, Richard Batterham and Colin Kellam or, if you prefer, a bit of bling: there is always some Exeter silver.
