Fine Art Sale Ceramics Auction Preview

The upcoming October 2012 Fine Art Sale at fine art auctioneers Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood will have one of the largest ceramics sections in years with over 160 lots of fine pottery being offered.

The next Fine Sale at fine art auctioneers Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood can boast its largest ceramics section in years with nearly 160 lots that includes three Kangxi period Chinese Yen Yen vases, a collection of North Devon pottery with a good documentary harvest jug (FS16/399), a Staffordshire pottery menagerie that has two pairs of lions, a pair of elephants, giraffes, and four large rabbits all sheparded by portrait groups of Captain Cook and Thomas Jefferson.

There is also a Doulton faience tile panel (painted by Esther Lewis) that was exhibited at the Chicagao World's Fair in 1893 (FS16/453), plus a good smattering of domestic 18th century porcelain represented by Bow, Derby and Chelsea that included a particularly early 'scratch cross' period mug (FS16/475).

The section is nicely completed by a small single owner collection of mid 18th Meissen which boasts a Kaendler figure emblematic of Africa (FS16/510).
