This now classical character from children's literature was first introduced to his adoring public in 1958 by Michael Bond, the first book being A Bear Called Paddington. Seventy titles later and the Paddington books have been translated into thirty languages.

Paddington Bear has also seamlessly transferred to television both here and in America. He also appeared in the Official BBC Children In Need Medley with Peter Kay.

Offered at the Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood August 2012 Book Sale are three original watercolours showing Paddington. Presented to the vendor's mother in the early 1980s, as part of a charity event for an Action Medical Research campaign. They are believed to be stills used as originals for the BBC television series Paddington, produced by Michael Bond and the animation company FilmFair.
