A Roundup of Furniture for Auction in the April
2012 Fine Sale
The Antique furniture section of the April 2012 quarterly fine sale provides a good
cross section of oak and mahogany.
In the oak and country furniture section, there is a useful early 19th Century oak
and inlaid kitchen dresser (FS13/839). It carries an estimate of £400-£600.
A very attractive George III mahogany open armchair in the Hepplewhite taste (FS13/856)
is estimated at £1,200-£1,500.
The next lot is a late 18th/early 19th Century oak side cupboard of large
size (FS13/840) measuring 6ft 1in wide x 7ft 0 1/2in high. The pre-sale estimate
is £800-£1,200.
There is an attractive William and Mary walnut and floral marquetry cabinet on a
later stand (FS13/842), which should make £1,500-£2,000.
Amongst the Georgian mahogany furniture there are two secretaire bookcases (FS13/850)
and (FS13/929), each carrying an estimate of £1,500-£2,000
A very attractive George III mahogany open armchair in the Hepplewhite taste (FS13/856)
is estimated at £1,200-£1,500, whilst a pair of open armchairs in the Hepplewhite
taste (FS13/860) (one with replacement back legs) are estimated at £1,500-£2,000.
A Regency mahogany twin pillar dining table with centre leaf (FS13/864) is estimated
at £1,000-£1,5000 and a pretty Regency mahogany and marquetry sideboard just 4ft
5 1/2in long at £600-£800.
There are several pairs of card tables with lot FS13/927 being a pair of Regency
card and tea tables, estimate £3,000-£5,000 and lot FS13/928, a pair of Regency
card tables at £1,000-£1,500.
Lot FS13/924 provides the final pair being Victorian rosewood, tulipwood and walnut
card
tables in the French taste at £3,000-£4,000.
A Regency mahogany library table (FS13/925).
Estimate £1,500-£2,000.
A handsome Regency mahogany library table (FS13/925) is offered with an estimate
of £1,500-£2,000 and a George III mahogany and marquetry serpentine fronted
serving table (FS13/923) is at £2,500-£3,000.
Amongst the continental furniture, there is a Louis XV brass mounted kingwood coffer
fort on a later walnut stand with an estimate of £1,500–£2,000 and for those interested
in the Arts and Crafts movement, there is an oak cabinet on stand (FS13/915) at
£800-£1,200.
