Frank Harding (Australia; 1935-1990) was born in Werrimul in Victoria (Australia) and educated in Eaglehawk and Redesdale.
After leaving school, Harding worked in a shearing team before joining the police force, where he rose to the rank of detective, resigning in 1975.
Harding then embarked on a career as an artist, building a studio and gallery in Renmark. He held many exhibitions throughout Australia, England and the USA, painting in oil, egg tempera, watercolour, pen and ink.
Harding had a scholarly interest in history and as a result of his research on the colonial bush-ranging period, he was made a Fellow of The Australian Institute of History & Art [1986].
In 1988, Harding began a series of aircraft paintings winning the prestigious Royal Australian Heritage Award in 1989.
Harding was a self-taught artist, illustrator and author and those who knew him say he had a great respect and admiration for all humanity.
Renmark is a town in South Australia's rural riverland area and is located 250km north east of Adelaide on the banks of the river Murray.
