Edward Wesson (1910-1983) was a painter in oils but especially watercolours, handling a variety of subjects with an assured wash technique.
Wesson was born in Blackheath, south-east London. His early subjects were inspired by the tidal waters, topography and sail boats on the Thames.
During World War II, Wesson spent time in Italy and Sicily, painting all the while.
Wesson was elected a member of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours in 1952. He exhibited widely including at the RA and the RBA. The Alexander Gallery in Bristol held a major retrospective in 1999.
