Biography of painter and printmaker Alan Richards (b 1932)

Alan Richards (b 1932) is a printmaker, painter and teacher born in St Agnes, Cornwall. At a young age, his family moved to Mold in Flintshire.

Richards attended Chester School of Art and Liverpool. From 1958, he taught at Exeter College of Art and Design. In 1966, he formed the Bartholomew Print workshop and became head of Fine Art in 1979.

Richards has exhibited his works at the Royal Cambrian Academy, Newlyn Art Society, The Margaret Fischer Gallery and University College in Swansea. In 2000 he showed some forty paintings at The Royal Albert Memorial Museum & Art Gallery in Exeter.

Richards lives in Exeter with his wife Anne, also an artist.
