Sale Notes

This year’s Maritime sale to be held on 14th June 2017 (MA17) offers some fascinating lots including a rare and well preserved Arctic Exploration sledge flag (MA17/113) for Admiral George Richards KCB, Commander of HMS Assistance in Sir Edward Belcher's expedition of 1852/3/4 in search of HMS Erebus and HMS Terror of Sir John Franklin's Lost Expedition of 1845. The flag with Admiral Richard's personal heraldry comprising a lamb and flag crest with motto 'Laus Deo' (Praise God) in white silk on a blue reserve, measuring 46cm x77cm is estimated at £6,000-£8,000.

A 12 bolt diving helmet in the manner of Siebe Gorman & Co (MA17/202) is estimated at £1,500-£2,000, whilst a late 19th Century clockwork pond yacht in the style of a steam yacht (MA17/242) carries a pre-sale estimate of £3,000-£5,000.
