Sale Notes

Honiton is well known as being a major antiques centre in the West Country, but is also becoming more internationally known through its regular Antiques & Collectors sale held at Bearnes Hampton & Littlewood's Dowell Street saleroom.

From small towns a few miles away from Honiton, like Ottery St Mary, to the furthest reaches of Cornwall, the range of items consigned from the South West of England to this sale varies a great deal.

Among the Oriental and European ceramics on offer is a rather unusual Palissy-style green glaze figure of a lizard (estimate £80-£100). Produced toward the end of the 19th century, it has remarkably life like features that will help it achieve its pre-sale estimate.

Amongst the Victorian and Edwardian furniture in the sale is a good example of a Victorian walnut sewing and games table, and a good selection of Victorian, Edwardian and 20th century oils and watercolours.
