An early 19th Century mahogany, satinwood decorated and inlaid cylinder fronted bureau bookcase, bordered with boxwood and ebony lines, the upper part with a moulded and carved gilt swan neck broken pediment, with flowerhead roundels, crossbanded in tulipwood and painted with an urn and garlands of flowers and foliage on a satinwood ground, the frieze similarly decorated and enclosed by a pair of panel doors, the lower part having a fall enclosing a fitted interior with small drawers and pigeon holes and extending writing surface with central hinged baize panel and well below, containing two short and a dummy drawer below and with a shaped apron on splayed bracket feet, 103cm (3ft 4 1/2in) wide, 233cm (5ft 7 3/4in) high.
