Sale Notes

In excess of 1,000 lots are to be offered in our Spring Fine Art sale over three days.

Amongst the highlights, the silver department offer a fine and rare example of Arts and Crafts silver with a large bowl by Charles Robert Ashbee, who founded the influential Guild and School of Handicraft in London in 1888. The estimate is £8,000-£10,000.

Included in the ceramics section of the sale will be 100 lots of Chinese and Japanese pottery and porcelain, including a handsome Chinese celadon 'Cong' vase made in the Guangxu period (1875-1908), estimate £2,000-£4,000.

Amongst an interesting and varied entry of pictures is an oil of an interior scene with a lady sewing by the celebrated Danish artist Carl Wilhem Holsoe (1863-1935), estimate £15,000-£20,000.

On day two and on the morning of day three, antique furniture of all types will be sold including a rare pair of 16th Century Italian thrones, formerly in the collection of the Reverend Sir Patrick Ferguson Davie BT of Creedy Park, near Crediton, with a pre-sale estimate is £15,000-£20,000.
